Aaron Allston signs R2-S5's dome
Star Wars fans are the greatest...
Star Wars costumers are the greatest..
and...
I can add -without a doubt...
Star Wars authors are the greatest.
They never disappoint..
The next chapter in the extraordinary history of the Star Wars galaxy begins here... Aaron Allston is the New York Times bestselling author of Star Wars: Legacy of the Force: Exile; two Star Wars: The New Jedi Order: Enemy Lines novels: Rebel Dream and Rebel Stand; novels in the popular Star Wars X-Wing series.
Members of the Midwest Garrsion of the 501st, the Midwest Base of the Rebel Legion, R2 Builders, Chicago Force Book Club and the Indy Knights from Indianapolis all joined forces to welcome Aaron Allston to the Chicago area to launch the new series of books "Fate of the Jedi" with the first book being Aaron's "Outcast".
Many members arrived early and amused themselves till it was time to suit up. Mr. Allston was at the Borders in Oakbrook early to do some interviews and a Pod cast. He was also on hand in the back room to sign our member's books. Just before the event started, Mr. Allston was gracious and took many group photos for us and all of the fans that gathered at the store.
At 7:30 PM our troops escorted Mr. Allston to the signing area and rather than do a reading from the book he told some great stories of his life in the "Star Wars" galaxy.
Q & A followed as members of the gallery asked some really great questions. It was obvious that Mr. Allston posesses great humor and passion for his characters as he answered all of the questions. He added that this series of books will be on the lighter side but filled with the adventures that we have all come to know and love.
After the Q & A portion, it was time to sign books! I stood off to the side during much of the signing. Mr. Allston answered a lot more questions from all that came to have their books signed and was just about the easiest going person you would ever want to meet.
My sincere gratitude to all our troops and to the public that came great distances for this signing. It is always a thrill to honor our own.

Us Rebel scum did induct Mr. Allston into "Delta Squad"...
and...
while getting my own book signed I asked him if he could write a book on Rebel Fleet Troopers in an effort to make us interesting....lol...

Hi and much thanks to all for another fantastic event.
It was great to see so many different Star Wars fan clubs join together (over 100 books signed)
To support Aaron Alston and make this event
more than just another book signing.
Aaron even poked a little good natured fun at the IK and CF
As having rival book clubs……..competitive reading
IK and CF, would later sit down, meet, share Star Wars stories, talk shop,
And basically hold their own mini-con
And now an attempt to post some photo-s, which were taken by I do not know who,
As I gave my camera to the Rebels and felt lucky to get it back.
Thanks to Phyllis for rescuing it before it ended up on ebay

I wish I could have made it, but I had to build a volcano instead. I was 3/4 of the way done when I was told that it was an extra credit project. Extra credit!
It would have been nice to know that before I had to cancel at the last minute! _________________

Here's my picture album: http://www.flickr.com/photos/skyjammer/sets/72157615849106131/
And a few favorites:
This was a fun event! Nice to meet a bunch of people in person that I've only read about on the boards. Sorry we had to cut and run, but like Sara said, we had to get back home since we had to work the next day. |

Thank you both for coming...
I know that Aaron was pleased to see Sara's Admiral Daala...
and..
thank you also for capturing so many photos.
As is usually the case, my contact assured me that she would send additional photos the next day...
so far I have not received them..
so I always advise folks to make sure they get their own photos at an event...
because I don't think anyone from outside our group who promised photos ever came through..
except for the professional photographer from the Isaac event..
Again...thank you one and all...
this was a GREAT booksigning... _________________ http://livefromthegalaxyfarfaraway.blogspot.com/

Looks like you guys had a great time!! Wish I could have been there.
He is one of the better writers doing Star Wars novels out there in my opinion and would have loved to hear what he had to say.
Still re-working my gunner helmet (operation "wired up for sound" is about 70% complete!!)
See y'all soon! _________________ IG-1739 - Gunner77

OMG I really hope it was minor and he recovers quickly. I know he was supposed to be on the road for the week...hopefully he found good care wherever he was when this happened.
He asked me to email him with event pictures at that address, so I'm sure he is okay with fans emailing him. _________________ Sara SL/ID/DZ 3881

Update on Aaron Allston's condition:
Del Rey author Aaron Allston underwent quadruple bypass surgery. Aaron was on tour, promoting his latest book Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi: Outcast when he suffered a heartattack and was admitted to a hospital in Texas. He is currently in intensive care, but stable. Our thoughts are with him.
Aaron’s family has set up a blood donation sponsorship. If anyone in the Dallas area would like to donate blood, you can go to the National Blood Exchange or Carter BloodCare. Say that you are donating blood for Aaron Allston, patient of Carter Blood Care in Bedford, TX, and give his sponsor number: SPON 047786.
Please send any well-wishes to:
Aaron Allston
c/o Del Rey Books
1745 Broadway
New York, NY 10019
But please DO NOT send any perishable items or flowers, as Aaron will not be able to receive anything this week. _________________ http://livefromthegalaxyfarfaraway.blogspot.com/
